Accountable Dreamers

Today’s ROAR value is ACCOUNTABLE — owning your choices and making them right. Our house is Rêveur, the House of Dreamers. Big dreams need people who follow through.

Today’s ROAR letter is A — Accountable! Being accountable means owning your choices. And our house is Rêveur, the blue House of Dreamers. Look at their crest:

A dreamer imagines something wonderful. An accountable dreamer actually works to make it happen — and says “that was me” when things go wrong.

1. Own it 2. Fix it 3. Do better

Three steps when you make a mistake!

Let’s talk
  • What are some words you can say when you make a mistake?
  • What is a big dream you have? What is one small step toward it?
  • Why is saying “that was me” sometimes hard?

Also today: Hanukkah begins at sundown. Many Jewish families around the world will light the first candle on a menorah tonight, starting eight nights known as the Festival of Lights.

Here’s a distinction worth holding onto: a dream is what you want. Accountability is what you do when the dream gets hard.

A wish and a goal are not the same thing A WISH “I want to be great at reading.” No plan attached A GOAL “I’ll read 20 minutes every night this week.” You can check it

A goal can be measured. A wish cannot.

Let’s talk
  • What turns a wish into a goal? What has to be added?
  • Being accountable means you can be held to something. Why does that require a goal and not just a wish?
  • Semester 1 ends in two weeks. What’s one goal you could still finish strong?
Lion Trivia

Rêveur’s legend: in the year the house was smallest, its leader said “because our house is smaller, we each have to be ___.” What’s the missing word?

Bigger. And that year, the smallest house won its first championship — because every member took accountability for their own part.

[STAFF TRIVIA: add a question about a staff member — e.g., “Which staff member is a Rêveur dreamer?”]
