¡Sí, se puede! — Yes, it can be done!

Hispanic Heritage Month starts today! Some phrases are so powerful they become a rallying cry for millions of people. Today’s words come from one of the most famous phrases in American history.

Meet Dolores Huerta! She is a Mexican American leader who helped farm workers — the people who pick our fruits and vegetables — be treated fairly. She taught everyone to say three special words.

Words of the Day: ¡Sí, se puede! That’s Spanish for “Yes, it can be done!” It’s what you say when something feels hard but you know you can do it.

  • What is something hard that you know you CAN do?
  • Dolores helped people by using her voice. How can your words help a friend?

Let’s say Dolores’s words together, loud and proud: “¡Sí, se puede!” One more time with your Lion voice! Now turn to a partner and cheer it for THEM.
