Welcome back, Lions! Today we observe.
Scientists start every discovery by observing — looking, listening, and noticing closely. All year, we’ll observe and wonder together every morning!
Today we’re scientists who observe — we look closely at the world around us.
Let’s talk
- Look around our classroom. What’s one thing you see that you like?
- Close your eyes and listen. What sounds do you hear?
Try it
Be a detective! Find something in the room that is your favorite color, then find something round. Show a partner what you found!
Scientists begin every discovery by observing — noticing small details others might miss.

- Name one thing you observe in our room that’s new or different this year.
- Why is observing carefully an important skill — in science and in life?
Try it
With a partner, observe each other for 30 seconds. Then turn around and change one small thing about yourself. Can your partner spot what changed? That’s how scientists notice details!
